| Bats are extremely interesting and often misunderstood creatures. Myths and movies portray them as bloodsucking monsters, but they're often very gentle and skittish mammals. The stories of bats getting caught in people's hair, for example, are downright silly, since bats possess a sonar location ability similar to that of dolphins, and would "see" a person long before they got close enough to get tangled in their hair. They are also not blind, as the saying goes, but their other senses are so much more acute that they don't need a highly developed sense of sight.
