My Betty Boop Rose

I plan to add more pictures of my Betty Boop Rose as time goes on.
The blooms are so varied and beautiful, I just have to share them!

My Rose in Paradise, California, 2001.
Usually, the petals have more white in the center. This summer (2002) I got five beautiful blooms on one stem!

This summer I used some of my Betty Boop Rose petals to make a wonderful rose petal jam. Here's the recipe I used:
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 cups fresh rose petals (Chemical free)
  • 1/8 cup lemon juice
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 package pectin
  • 1 1/4 tbsp rose water (made with 2 cups roses for every 1 cup of water. Boil rose petals until transluscent.)
  • 5 miniature strawberries

This is a variation of the recipe found in The Wicca Cookbook, by Jamie Wood and Tara Seefeldt. Other variations of the recipe can be found online.
